arts enterprise uw–madison student chapter

Arts Enterprise UW–Madison envisions a new future for entrepreneurial-minded arts careers. It is part of a movement that envisions a community, built on sustainable relationships between artists and entrepreneurs, that promotes and incubates innovative, collaborative, and impactful community-based projects.

As part of a growing national network, founded at the University of Michigan in 2006, we strive to break down stereotypes of what it means to be an artist and what it means to be a business person. Both can benefit from learning a little bit from each other. The interdisciplinary group caters to the needs of students in business, music, theatre and drama, as well as other students in the arts throughout the university community. The group emphasizes creative leadership and cultural engagement, and numerous events which are devoted to empowering artists and entrepreneurs to work together and create new, impactful arts projects.

Our 2009-10 program offerings include:

VIBES

In partnership with several Madison-area high schools and the UW–Madison School of Music, Vital Instrumentation with Big Ensemble Sound (VIBES) will facilitate several events to promote small ensemble music. Through VIBES, UW student chamber musicians will mentor and coach emerging high school chamber ensembles in order to revitalize chamber music for younger audiences.

Purpose:

Check out the VIBES Web site for more information.

Guest Artist Series

The Arts Enterprise UW–Madison Guest Artist Series is devoted to reaching artists and entrepreneurs from all walks of life. With four dates (two in Fall 2009, two in Spring 2010) already under development, this program will bring exciting and passionate artists and entrepreneurs to UW–Madison to host question and answer sessions, interactive workshops, and panel discussions exploring various facets of the topic "Sustainable Creativity." Through this series, AE Madison hopes to facilitate students’ exploration of innovative, collaborative, and sustainable careers as artists and arts entrepreneurs.

Special Events

Arts Enterprise UW–Madison will be collaborating with numerous other organizations at UW–Madison and in the community-at-large to foster innovative arts projects. Stay tuned for updates!
